IMAGE MAKING | Book Cover Iterations

I did away with my amputee and replaced, creating the brain surgery book cover instead.
I think it flowed better in the long run. I have used Baskerville for my titles, which is used in my typography magazine layout.

  1. okay, good to see some completed work to respond to. they are headed in a good direction, but the re-use of imagery bothers me a bit. it makes each book a little less unique. i like the contrast of the x-ray with the line drawing, but the drawing is just kind of plopped on there. it seems like there could be some "idea" or meaning in where/how it's positioned or scaled on the page. some of the images are very literal and don't show much imagination -- the heart for "heart valve surgery" is the least interesting one. the brain drawing is pretty literal, but the cutaway thing looks pretty awesome. the plastic surgery image goes a bit deeper b/c it looks like we're examining the muscular structure or something. i also think you can be more creative with color use. both images are the same type of duotone and nothing stands out in a strong way.

these are okay because the chosen imagery looks pretty cool, but they don't hold my attention long because the concepts don't go very deep.
